Eboni Band’s 1980 classic album featuring Fred Wesley, Motown and some audacious talent from the Ivory Coast

A whole 41 years has passed since Eboni Band’s self titled release and so it’s quite something that Canadian label, We Are Busy Bodies, have just announced its first ever re-release on vinyl and, for the first time, on digital and streaming platforms.

Reinventing itself as a record for the ages, a tour-de-force of cross continental soul and funk, it features session musicians from Motown and Ivory Coast’s Eboni Records alongside Fred Wesley (James Brown/Parliament) and was produced by Art Stewart (producer of Marvin Gaye’s Got To Give It Up and Rick James’ breakthrough album, Come Get It!), and arranged by Greg Middleton.

The first track has just gone live, a funk ridden, low slung gem entitled ‘Sing a Happy Song (Shake It Down)’. We definitely deserve some of that.

The LP is already on Bandcamp for the collectors to get their orders in early. Out 18th June via We Are Busy Bodies.
